ECONOTAX was founded in 1965, opened the first franchised office (in Picayune MS, which operates under the same owner to this day,) in 1968, and registered its first national trademark in 1970. Today there are ECONOTAX offices in seven states. ECONOTAX is a privately held corporation.
BRANDING

ECONOTAX has three marks registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (#2,423,029; #2,330,943; #2,374,255). The first use was in 1968 and the first mark was originally registered in 1970. A recent extensive review completed by a law firm to handle matters regarding intellectual property indicated that there are no unresolved unauthorized usages of the marks or name.

MANAGEMENT & STRATEGIC PARTNERS
The current leadership team has been in place since 1986. James Marsh, President is a past president of his state professional association and has been enrolled agents for over twenty-five years. Mr. Marsh takes and passes the Treasury examination each year and is a well known speaker on tax topics. Other key staff has over fifteen years in tax preparation, electronic tax filing administration, and franchising.

ECONOTAX is proud of its strategic partners. Long-standing relationships with Universal Tax Systems and the banks that provide electronic filing based products give ECONOTAX the capability of offering the full range of tax products with unexcelled training and support. ECONOTAX also has a long relationship with Bank One (now Chase Manhattan Bank) and Santa Barbara Bank in the tax products field.

Of course ECONOTAX over the years has diligently worked on maintaining good relations with the Internal Revenue Service, professional associations, and licensing organizations connected with the company’s business. ECONOTAX both provides speakers to these entities and invites their speakers to ECONOTAX meetings in an effort to foster good communications and to better the industry.
